Accessibility
Seatd aims to meet WCAG 2.1 level AA on every page, on a laptop and on a phone.
What works today
- A “Skip to seating chart” link is the first stop on the desktop editor.
- Every seat is a button named with the guest’s full name.
- Buttons, links and text fields show where keyboard focus is.
- Controls on phones are at least 44px, and pinch-to-zoom is never turned off.
- Animations stop when your device asks for reduced motion.
How we check
Automated tests run on every change. They check text contrast in every colour palette, light and dark, the size of phone controls, the skip link, and that no text is smaller than 11px. They also run axe-core’s WCAG 2.1 A and AA rules on the home page, My charts, both editors, the share page and this page, in every palette, light and dark, and fail on any serious or critical problem. The gaps below are ones axe doesn’t test for.
Known gaps
- On the desktop editor, seating a guest from the guest list, moving a table and renaming a table need a mouse. On a phone, seating and renaming work by tapping.
- Print dialog checkboxes don’t show keyboard focus.
These features still need improvement.
